Sunshine Surf Morocco is a surfcamp located in Tamraght in the region of Agadir.
Its ideal geographical position makes it the best place for European surfers to enjoy top waves, sunshine and warm weather all year long, on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. 

The easiest way to get to Tamraght is by flying to Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA). The airport is serviced by major air companies (Royal Air Maroc, Ryanair, Easyjet, British Airways…) and is only a short 40 min ride to our surf camp, along a picturesque coastal road. Transfers to and from Agadir Airport are included for stays of 7+ nights. 

Alternatively, you can fly to Marrakech (RAK) or Essaouira (ESU) airports, respectively a 3h30 and 2h30 journey to Tamraght. These transfers are not included in the packages, but we would be happy to organise it for you. Otherwise, you can make your own way booking with Souk to Surf or CTM or Supratours.

If you are traveling outside of Europe (USA, Australia…), you will most likely have to connect in Casablanca or at a European airport as there are no direct flights.

EU passport holders, Russian, USA, Australian and New Zealand citizens do not need a visa to enter Morocco for tourism purposes. You can stay in the country for up to 90 days, and your passport should be valid for at least 6 months before your return date.

Note: passport cards are not accepted in Morocco. 

Families with children of all ages are welcome to stay with us. However, we do not have amenities to cater for infants.

If you’re unsure how to define your surf level, check this note for guidance: 

Never Surfed/beginner. You have never surfed or have surfed once or twice during a holiday. Beginner. You have surfed regularly on and off, but still don’t feel comfortable on your own. You catch green waves but you are still on a soft top. 

Intermediate B. You surf regularly on a hard board but still need help from the instructor to place yourself at the peak and catch waves. 

Intermediate A. You surf regularly and are totally independent. You’re capable of surfing on your own with just a few tips from the guide. 

Advanced. You’re comfortable in any conditions and any spot from hollow beach breaks, point breaks/slabs.

The official currency of Morocco is the Moroccan Dirham, denoted as MAD or Dhs. It’s a stable currency and exchange rates are around 11dhs to the 1€, 13dhs to 1£ and 9dhs to 1US$.

The Dirham is a closed and non-convertible currency meaning it can only be traded within Morocco. You can withdraw money or exchange your foreign currency on arrival. You will find exchange facilities and ATMs in the Moroccan airports and plenty of ATMs in Agadir. The nearest ATM to Sunshine Surf is located in Aourir, a 5 minute drive from Tamraght. Visa and Mastercard are best as most ATMs in Morocco do not accept Maestro or Amex. 
*Note: while you can still exchange Euro or Pound Sterling for Dirham in a few European airports, Dirham cannot be converted outside of Morocco. 
 
It is advisable not to use travellers cheques as it is very difficult to find a bank that will cash them. The commission rates are high and charged per cheque.

Most of Morocco has very good phone and internet coverage. Almost all phone operators work, but make sure to check with your provider about extra costs. 
Alternatively, you can buy a prepaid sim card at the airport (10€ for 10Giga and a very quick process), or there are plenty of public phones in Tamraght. 

The surf camp is equiped with free high-speed wifi, and you can also find broadband internet in restaurants and cafes around town.

Morocco is an all year outstanding surf holiday destination. There is no best time to visit, it’s up to what waves you want to surf or what weather you prefer. The Moroccan coast is famous for its huge variety of surf and the region has something for everyone, from ideal beginner waves to challenging reef ledges. You can’t be disappointed! Sunshine Surf is open all year round to cater for every surfer. 

Winter (September-May)
The winter period is when the swells are more consistent and you will find big sets rolling in.
The weather is still warm during the day but it can get chilly early mornings and evenings. Although it’s unlikely, there are chances of rain between November and February.

Summer (May-September)
The swell usually ranges from small to medium during summer and is perfect for beginners to intermediates.
July and August are the hottest months and temperatures can reach up to 35 degrees.

Surfboard
Morocco offers a wide range of waves for all levels, so you could really take your whole quiver!
Bring equipment that suits your abilities best, and according to what kind of waves you want to surf.
Make sure to check the forecast before you go, or drop us a message so we can advise you. 

Wetsuit
The water can get cold during winter, so we recommend a good 3/2 or even a 4/3 wetsuit.
Summer months are warmer so bring your shorty or summer wetsuit as well as your 3/2. 

Rental
Board and wetsuit are included in the Surf Lesson and Surf & Yoga packages.
You can also rent our equipment if you don’t want to travel with your board or want to try a different shape/size board. 

Clothing
Morocco is one of the most tolerant Muslim countries. Shorts, tee-shorts and flip-flops are all suitable, and it is acceptable to wear bikinis on the beach. However, out of respect for the local culture, we advise you to cover up if you are walking in town or going to the souk – especially during Ramadan.
We also recommend bringing the essentials :
– closed shoes (runners, sneakers),
– warm clothes (jeans, sweaters) for the winter period as evenings can be quite chilly,
– light long sleeves and light pants to protect from the sun,
– hat/cap and sunnies.

Toiletries
Toiletries and sunscreen (a must in Morocco!) are not provided. You can buy your basic items in the local shops if you don’t want to carry the extra weight. Most sell your typical European brands.

We provide bath towels, but we ask you to bring your own beach towel.

You’ll be impressed with the variety and taste of the local food! It’s not for nothing Moroccan specialties are renown worldwide.
Ali, our chef extraordinaire, carefully crafts his weekly menu to offer you the best fusion of Moroccan and international cuisine. His famous couscous on Fridays is our favorite! 

All our packages include:
– breakfast,
– a packed lunch,
– after-surf Moroccan tea and biscuits,
– sunset dips,
– 2 courses dinner. 
You can also purchase snacks at the surf camp, or in the many shops around Tamraght.

We try our best to cater for particular diets and food allergies.
You can mention your special requirements when filling out the booking form, or feel free to contact us for more details.
Please keep in mind that not all food alternatives are available yet in Morocco. 

We recommend that you do not drink tap water in Morocco. 
You can purchase water bottles at the surf camp for 10dhs, or in any shops around Tamraght. 

We strongly recommend getting comprehensive travel insurance before you leave. Some health insurance providers don’t cover extreme sports (such as surfing), so make sure to check any exclusions in your policy.

Apart from universal vaccinations (tetanus, polio, whooping cough, diphtheria, hepatitis B), no additional vaccination is required to visit Morocco.
